Nanotechnology prize for NCCR alum
NCCR Bio-Inspired Materials alum Ivana Domljanovic is one of the 2023 Swiss Nanotechnology PhD Award winners. The five prizes recognize excellent scientific first-author publications in the field of nanotechnology and nanoscience published by a PhD student.
Domljanovic, the only female winner, completed her doctoral thesis last year in PI Prof. Curzio Rüegg’s laboratory at the University of Fribourg. She was recognized for her 2022 publication in the journal Nanoscale “DNA Origami Book Biosensor for Multiplex Detection of Cancer-Associated Nucleic Acids.” The award ceremony was held during the Swiss NanoConvention that took place last week in Neuchâtel.
Thomas Kainz, an NCCR PhD student in PI Prof. Ullrich Steiner’s group at the Adolphe Merkle Institute, was also a prize winner at the Swiss NanoConvention, taking home the award for best image.
